EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

means desensitization and reprocessing with eye movement and is one of Dr. Francine Shapira developed trauma-processing psychotherapy method. It is based on the fact that there is potential of healing powers slumbering in every person, which, however, is often blocked by trauma and stressful experiences. The EMDR process helps to revive this self-healing power. The client concentrates on certain parts of his traumatic memories and at the same time follows the therapist's finger movements with his eyes. This process simulates the rapid eye movements that occur every night in humans during the REM sleep phases and in which important events from the day as well as from the past are processed. The EMDR training aims to activate and accelerate the processing processes in the brain as well as to support the self-healing process.
